Bio: Valerie Ahrens

Valerie Ahrens has 30 years of international experience in Energy, covering oil, gas, and power. She has held executive, commercial, operational, and strategic roles in Shell before founding her company, StrategEnergy, in 2021. 

Already in 2003, as the EU ETS was set up, Valerie was the CO2 Trading project manager, focusing on Shell CO2 compliance. Later, she took the role of Shell‘s Global Commercial manager for oil shipping, covering a one billion USD portfolio of time charters, bare boats and vessel management agreements. 

As Global Head of Strategy in Shell Energy (B2B and trading entity for gas, power, and environmental products) for six years, she successfully developed the renewable gas, power and carbon strategies, key growth areas for the Shell Group. The strategy involved inorganic growth, and she led or supported dozens of M&A projects.

Since September 2022 she has joined Bunker Holding as Head of Sustainable Fuels holding a major role in the decarbonization of the maritime industry.

Bio: Manja Ostertag

Manja Ostertag has more than 13 years of experience in biofuels. She has joined the biofuels industry in 2010 when the road transport sector first started using biofuels. She has been developing new markets and customers by providing a variety of low carbon fuel solutions in line with the regulatory requirements. Since 2019 she has been developing sales also to the maritime industry. Her team closed one of the first biofuel sales to a marine customer to run its vessel on 100% biodiesel.

Manja has worked in several sales and trading related positions within BP and Chevron Renewable Energy Group, before she joined Bunker Holding, in April 2023.

As Head of Biofuels Manja is responsible for all biofuels related matters and the implementation of relevant biofuel solutions in the groups product portfolio, in order to drive the green energy transition in the shipping industry.

Bio: Maria Tzigianni

Maria Tzigianni is Verifuel Business Development Manager at Bureau Veritas. Maria started as a business development manager in the shipping industry in 2017 and for the last 2 years specialises in marine fuels. She holds an MSc in Maritime Science, an MBA and is an ICS member.

Bio: Jesper Sørensen

Jesper Sørensen is KPI OceanConnect’s Global Head of Alternative Fuels & Carbon Markets. He is overall responsible for implementing the green strategy and creating the green offerings of KPI OceanConnect.

Jesper has more than 24 years of experience in the bunker industry. He started his career in Denmark before moving to Singapore learning the trade of the biggest port in the world. In 2005 he joined KPI OceanConnect in London rising through the ranks to become a Team Leader. With Asia booming, he returned to Singapore in 2009 to help grow KPI OceanConnect’s Singapore presence. Back in Singapore he has held a variety of positions from Team Leader, Sales Manager and Managing Director before moving into his current role.
